Top 5 movies that absolutely revolutionized my life in 2017

As most of you may or may not be aware of - the end of 2017 is around the corner, which definitely would make few of you start to panic (including me).

Ups and downs, beginnings and endings and loads of answered and unanswered questions - these phrases firmly sum up my 2017.

I have made many decisions, I have been in many new roles and places this year and I definitely changed (good or bad way? Not for me to point that.) but one thing never changed during my life - my unconditional love for movies. I may be not a specialist, I would never not be able to list you my top 10 scenarists (as I do not know any by name) and probably I know nothing about that industry comparing to some people.

Well... Let us start my Top 5 movies that turned my life upside down in 2017:

5. Dogville

First part of Trilogy 'USA Land of Opportunities'
Many times I was looking for a strong reason to watch it - either Nicole Kidman could not persuade me or I just simply did not feel that zone to even consider this choice, which left me with feeling of the most narrow-minded person on this planet after I finished watching this movie.

Story about Grace who is hiding from gangster in a small mountain town of Dogville and in return of refuge is made to make sacrifices against her will. Beautiful yet strong movie showing unrealistic (?) behavior of people, 'crowd psychology' and how can it strongly affect single human being.
PS: The whole idea of placing the movie in the black stage marked with white chalk and using extremely minimal of anything made me overwhelmed and confused (in the good way).

4. The Sting

Oldschool older than any.
USA, 1936. Cigars, men in hats and pure class. Enormous grace, amazing style, Robert Redford and Paul Newman. What else do you need?
The idea of story of two professional grifters and an unbelievable adventure, as a big fan of criminals, especially an gold (never old) ones, I have absolutely not a thing to moan about.
Not to mention these suits...

3. To Kill a Mockingbird

The adaptation of novel by Harper Lee with the same title describing a small town in a period of Great Depression and racism problems. Narrated by little Scout Finch, which introduces you to her life in small neighborhood and story of her single father of two and reputable lawyer who agrees to defend 'Negro' accused of raping a white woman breaking all the taboos in late 30's.
Magical story about breaking the fences of racial and social convictions.
The black&white classic you need to see and my another must when it comes to my list of books  to read in 2018.

2. Loving Vincent

When I have heard about this amazing collaboration between Polish and British artists I sweared... this is my must see in 2017. Plus - it is the world's first movie fully painted which made me totally mad and proud about it.

Describing last moments of Vincent Van Gogh, moving not only with an incredible story of the most underestimated artist but with the talent of 125 artist from Poland who turned 65000 film frames into the oil paintings. 130 originals of Van Gogh's works were used - that made me even more respectfull of his work especially after spending hours in Van Gogh Museum.

Overwhelming.

Young Man with a Cornflower by Vincent Van Gogh (left movie)

The Night Cafe in the Place Lamartine in Arles by Vincent Van Gogh (movie above)

1. Fiddler on the Roof

Made in 1971, movie about father's love and dedication is the adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name.
Tevye the Dairyman, the father of five daughters is trying to balance between religious and cultural tradition and dangers (of love) coming from outside of village Anatevka.
Amazing Topol with his interpretation of 'If I were a rich man' definitely knocked me down.
For 3 hours I was wandering around Anatevka's hauses, greeting and getting to know many of different and beautiful (does not mean perfect) characters, and most important getting more familiar with ravishing Jewish culture.

100% recommended by Alicja Krawczyk.

Year 2017 brought many of excellent surprises, but these 5 will warm up my heart for a longer than I thought. Hopefully I absorbed as much reflections and as many benefits as I could. I will definitely go back to them in the future, to draw even more conclusions than now (I hope to be even smarter basically).

I recommend all of 5 for all of movie-maniacs and people with loved shared for movies occasionally.

As they say - you can say loads about person by the movie choice, and I stick with that.
I don't think they say that, but I believe it is true.

See ya later, Allygators,

Ally.
